Eternal

June 21, 2015. By Samantha Seto. Samantha majored in English.

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form or shape, with darkness over the abyss and a mighty wind sweeping over the waters. Then God said: Let there be light, and there was light.”
- The Book of Genesis (1:1-3)

I. God’s Presence

The altar candles are lit in church,

stained-glass windows, veined darkness,

rows of pews, wish for joy.

A standing cross, torn books,

bible verses inscripted on the shelves,

silent prayers unmeasured.

Hymns of destroyed tales, angels & lords on high,

choirs of soft voices echo a beautiful history.

Archways awaken in sunrise on earth.

The red wine of God consumes all.

Crystal blueness in waters.

My diary of letters fades away.

Prophecy reveals truth,

scars bleed in cracked light,

crimson memories.

Imagine the promised world,

whisper to the Lord’s destiny to die,

a crown of thorns, a sacrifice.

II. Guardian Angel

The hero of an epic fate,

in a powerful kingdom.

Every human made in God’s image,

laws of knowledge and good.

In divine gardens of love

a white swan is dying.

Breathes life into the soul,

carving doves into a wall of diamonds.

The pure heart of life.

I always serve : ego diligo deum.

III. Star Twinkle Bright

The power of a dream.

Infinite love of all-commanding nature

past golden mountains, holy Jerusalem,

all of God’s chosen people.

The eternity of a great world is endless,

evergreens tremble, faint purple stars,

memories pour out of the sky.

The four seasons, lives of forever bound,

my heart buried beneath the melancholy earth,

peace from suffrage of war, save the innocent.

I rehearse for death, carry scarlet roses,

keep the promise of a worthy sacrament.

Sound of freedom from the ground of earth!

An epiphany of the mind, a cornerstone.

The peacemakers, children of God

lead the path that leads to Heaven.

The masterful author of our faith.

A world in the palm of God’s hands.

“Truly my soul waiteth upon God” (Psalm 62:1).

The creator of a gift, perfecter of all things.
