Industry the waft of freshly pressed, freshly roasted morning coffee. Hiss, sputter, rush out of the filter into the carafe. Coffee that sits patiently on the table, waiting for bleary-eyed me to creep sleepily from the fluffy sheets onto the hardwood floor. Bite of chocolate sauce doused pancake, chewed thoughtfully, thinking about sunrise.

Travail the snow-dusted path to school. Roads frosted over from last night’s drizzle. Chelsea boots gingerly picking their way through grey sludge, dirty ice, and patches of snow-white carpet. Each step purposeful and certain. Destination looming.

Work the rhythmic tap of the worn computer keyboard. Tired eyes and blued-over glasses melting into each other.

Struggle the afternoon view of the spiky city. Avaricious buildings stretching upwards, demanding satisfaction. Long shadow cast upon the lagoon.

Vocation the drive back stuck in grid-blocked cars, patiently waiting their turn. A half-droning radio in the background reporting of war in some faraway land. Suddenly, the smell of a cooked dinner and fluffy sheets. Thinking of home above. Rest.
